ABOUT ALPHA LTD:
Alpha Ltd are based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and over the last 2 years have produced an energy modelling platform for commercial property and in particular office space with a keen interest in occupancy comfort and well being.
They are now in the process of supplementing the above modelling tool with a range of environmental devices capable of giving live building data to a newly formed energy bureau at Alpha Ltd.
These products and the energy bureau service shall give the business the tools to both monitor and intervene in energy usage and thus save customers monies on energy bills. Another important aspect of the suite of tools is to help with productivity via staff sickness levels being tracked and hopefully reduced with improvements to air quality etc.
PROPOSED USE OF FUNDS:
Alpha Ltd started the business with a Director’s loan with product development being financed via retained earnings in the business to date. However, this shall not be possible to develop the environmental devices etc and therefore the monies shall be used to design and build these products in conjunction with an Innovate UK grant and academia support via Queen’s University Belfast.
It shall also be used to open an office in Cambridge, England where they have close links with the University.
P2NZ CLOSING STATEMENT
We are delighted that this young company, which was an Academic spin out of Queen’s University Belfast in 2021, has chosen the P2NZ App to gain access to green finance and our UK wide mentoring network.
An important part of the development of Alpha Ltd, and one of the main goals for P2NZ’s mentoring team, is to help the business to establish an office and presence in North America.
“We have now met the senior corporate management team of P2NZ in Glasgow on two occasions and they were one of three funding routes that we were exploring. We primarily opted for P2NZ as they were the only business focused purely on carbon neutrality and also had the mentoring capability, both technically and financially, to help us with the corporate governance side of Alpha Ltd as we grow.” Dr Lesley McConaghie, CEO Alpha Ltd.
